Cosy: “A feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation.”
There is something about snuggling under the blankets indoors by a fireplace and with a warm cup of tea in hand during winter. With most of us spending more time indoors now, it is always a nice treat for one to be able to enjoy a warm cosy space during winter.
Hygge, pronounced as “hoo-ga,” is a danish concept that is used it’s a feeling or moment when it’s cosy, charming or special. It was created in order for the Danes to survive the cold isolation, boredom and dark moments. To be able to create a good moment is the key to the Danish culture and it probably why they are one of the happiest people in the world.
Space can be so important for our mental health and by creating our own little self-healing nook, can be of a great investment to yourselves.

The Ultimate Guide To Creating A Sustainable Home
TOUCH
The touch of a soft and comforting pillows can instantly make my stress go away. Cuddling up with blankets and soft cushions somehow decreases tension and allows the body to relax and feel calm. Here are the three combinations for an ultimate feel good for your body.
SMELL
Do not underestimate the sense of smell. It is and has always been my go-to sensory when it comes to relaxation. The sense of smell can be a powerful tool to have when working with big or small spaces. There are more an a thousand of scents in the world, how wonderful is that? Each scent provides a different atmosphere to a space, which means you can create so many different spaces in one room.
SIGHT
When it comes to the eyes and what we see, it can be helpful to incorporate some items that help to ease the eyes away from the screens. Dim the lights, prepare a hot drink at your side, turn your phone to ‘do not disturb’ and grab your favourite book – sounds lovely isn’t?
HEARING
When we surround ourselves to daily chatters and meeting calls, it can be quite hard to relax. Having a relaxing background music can help elevate the cosy atmosphere, because literally, there are millions of songs to choose from. My favourite playlist to put on the background is the yoga playlist from Spotify – the ultimate background music to have while reading a book or doing yoga.
Keeping the ‘Hygge’ in mind, think about what make you comfortable and happy. Only select pieces that makes you feel content and relax is the key to creating the perfect winter cosy space. Knowing that, you are ready to relax and enjoy your own little cozy winter space in the comfort of your own home.
