Let me guess.. is one of your resolution for this year to workout more? I know mine definitely is! One big motivation to get anyone started with their exercise is to prepare a space that makes you excited to get up from your seat and roll out your mat.
It has to feel inviting and definitely not intimidating at all! You choose your favourite mat, equipment and furnishings to you feel comfortable and the next minute you will find yourself stepping in there for a workout.
Selecting a theme
There are so many home workouts online and they are all so different. From Yoga to Hiit and Pilates exercises, they all set a different tone and vibe. Hence using that, you can create a space tailored to the kind of workouts you are doing.
Yoga
To start off, a yoga mat is essential to any yoga workout. Keeping a minimal look design on the yoga mat can give off a calming and yet urban vibe to the space. Keeping a blanket at your side can give off a comfortable and cosy vibe to the meditative space.
Choosing a unique candle can instantly switch up the feel and quality of your workout space. They are aesthetically pleasing to put around your space at home and it catches your eye whenever you think about doing a workout!
Hiit
This cardio intensive workout will set anyone’s heart rate pumping. You definitely would want to invest in this smart jump rope. With its sleek and modern look, it can fit in any home as a décor piece. With the ability to sync itself to fitness apps, like Google Fit, Apple HealthKit and more, you can exercise while still connected with technology. It is too cool not be used.
Having a bottle at the side will also be a great plus in this high intensity workout. No need to worry about glass spilling over or running to the kitchen for water, a bottle keeps you hydrated throughout the exercise!
Investing in a good speaker for your workout can also add great value to the whole atmosphere. This small and minimal looking speaker can be placed anywhere in the room and creates a good surround sound as well.
Pilates
A good protective mat for Pilates is always a good thing. With its focus on building strength and core work, this pebbled effect yoga mat can help reduce impact on your knees and elbows while giving you the friction and stability you need to work on your core.
A pair of noise cancelling earphones will also help to keep you focused on your pose, away from any distractions. Lastly, you can keep things clean and organised with a laundry basket after the workout – its almost like you didn’t even started in the first place!
Prioritizing your workout space
Spending time to personalise your workout space can also be vital to your mental health. I have learnt that putting more time and effort into what is important to me and what I want to work can help give purpose and motivation to my goals.
There are also thousands of at home workout videos online which are always different and exciting to try out. Even though we are ‘stuck’ at home, I feel very blessed to be in this generation where the internet can be a source of communication and entertainment for us. Change is not always a bad thing, but it shows room for creativity and improvements.
I hope these essential items can help you start off your January workout plans and let’s all move forward together!
