5 Spring Trends You Might Already Have In Your Wardrobe

  • 3 minute read

By Racheal Bola-Keji

This spring  it is mandatory that we slay sustainably together! And there is no better way to do this than to maximize what we already have in our wardrobes. It can be very tempting to want to buy a whole new spring wardrobe, but with the forever trends I am about to show you, you will see that you already have what you need to be stylish this spring.

Spring Trend 1:  Denim, Denim, Denim.

Denim is a trend that will never die out! From the 1950’s till now, denim has remained one of the most consistent fashion trends ever. And I can see why! The versatility of denim makes it so easy to style and incorporate within our spring wardrobe. For instance, denim jeans paired with a shirt is a style that has been prominent since the 70’s and is still a style that is super cool now. Whether you decide to pair your jeans with a denim shirt , a striped shirt or even a plain shirt, this is a look that can be achieved without making any new purchases if you’ve got these items at home.

Spring Trend 2 :  Blazers.

In the past, we’ve been through leather, bomber and even denim jackets but this spring it’s all about blazers. And there is absolutely no better way to elevate a spring look than popping a blazer over your shoulder. I remember when wearing a blazer was deemed  extremely corporate but now it’s such a fashion statement. One thing I love about this spring trend is that it can be achieved in an inexpensive and eco friendly way. This trend can be achieved with work blazers, male blazers (maybe from your spouse, father etc), or any blazer you have at home.  And you can style your  blazers with literally anything: dresses, jumpsuits, skirts, jeans, you name it!

Spring Trend 3: Bright Colours

Spring 2021 is all about extravegency and bright colours. Winter gave us neutral and brown tones but this spring is the best time to bring out the bright colour palettes hidden in our wardrobes. If you are reading this thinking ‘hmm I am not too sure, bright colours are a bit too much’, trust me I understand. But you can start off small, it’s really as simple as adding a pop of brightness into your outfits. This spring trend can be achieved with any coloured bag, shoe, hat,  jacket and even within your makeup look. Don’t be afraid to come out of your comfort zone this spring, experiment with new colours and have fun with it!

Spring Trend 4: Black Dresses

We all have at least one black dress in our spring wardrobe but if you are anything like me, you probably have many. This spring sexy is more than acceptable and black is more than welcome. Whether your black dress is flowy, slinky, bodycon etc, no style is excluded within spring.  For the days you can’t be bothered to style an outfit  but want to look cute, put on a black dress and you will achieve just that. Whether you choose to accessorise heavily or prefer to keep it simple, you will still look super stylish. You really can’t go wrong with a classic black dress. This is a spring trend that will never fade.

Spring Trend 5: Vintage Head Scarves

On the topic of accessories, the head scarf is making a big comeback this spring. Eternalised by hollywood divas such as Audrey Hepburn, the headscarf has always been an iconic and versatile trend. So if you are ready to start spring in a unique and different way, be sure to add this accessory to your lookbooks. You don’t even need to buy new scarves, if you have vintage scarves at home, feel free to use them. Last year, the spring trend of the season was wearing head scarfs as tops. So feel free to be creative,  there are so many ways a  scarf can be worn! Find what works for you and run with it!
