From bold prints and bright colours to sharp and oversized tailoring, the endless range of styles from the 80’s still inspires designers and brands today.
While we may mainly associate the era with neon leotards and leg warmers, power dressing was also a massive trend. From Princess Diana’s elegant tailoring to the chic and glamorous shoulder pads and suits worn on 80’s television shows, like Dynasty, the suit became a key staple for the powerful, working woman.
Just like our 70’s style edit, this week we have put together 5 sustainable looks inspired by the bold and chic power dressing of the 80’s!
Look 1: The Pink Suit
Inspired by the bright and bold colour palettes of the 1980s, we’ve paired this chic Maggie Marilyn suit with some simple yet stylish accessories.
Despite being a bold colour, this gorgeous pink suit embodies the playfulness of 80’s fashion and is incredibly versatile too! Perfect for special occasions when worn as a suit or separately as part of your daily wardrobe – the possibilities really are endless!

Look 2: The Androgynous Neutral Suit
80’s icons like Annie Lennox and Grace Jones became well known for their androgynous styles and looks. Oversized, relaxed fit tailoring was a key staple for 80’s power dressing and one that we still love today.
For this smart yet cool look, we’ve teamed this incredible House of Dagmar suit with a simple black tank and a seriously chic pair of snake print loafers!

Look 3: The Graphic Tee
The graphic tee was yet another classic 80’s fashion staple. Arguably the most iconic was, of course, the Frankie Goes To Hollywood ‘Frankie Says Relax!’ t-shirts.
For an effortlessly chic look, we’ve paired TOBEFRANK’s powerful Frankie Says Recycle tee with relaxed jeans and an oversized blazer. To complete the 80’s look, we have added some vegan white trainers and layered gold necklaces!

Look 4: The Bold Shirt
Infusing your wardrobe with the bright 80’s colour palette doesn’t have to be daunting. To give you some inspiration, we’ve paired this elegant Designers, Remix Lavender blouse with black trousers and heels!
To complete the look we’ve added gold hoops, chic sunglasses and a contrasting plum handbag.

Look 5: The Leopard Print Dress
An 80’s inspired style edit would not be complete without a bold print.
This Ganni smock dress is the perfect day-to-night dress for any occasion. Pair with strappy sandals and gold jewellery for a chic evening look or wear with a shirt and a pair of biker boots for a cool Scandi street style look!
