With streaming sites seeing a massive influx of users, films have become the perfect escape from everyday life. However, whilst we may predominately pick a film for its entertainment value, it is hard to ignore the chic styles of film characters new and old.
For this week’s Style Edit, we’ve put together a list of some of the chicest characters across film history. For each character, we’ve created sustainable outfits which are just as stylish as the original iconic looks.
Elvira Hancock – Scarface (1983)
Michele Pfeiffer’s breakthrough role, Elvira Hancock is an example of how minimalism can still be glamorous. Throughout the film, Elvira steals the spotlight with her range of elegant and sleek satin slip dresses and iconic bob hairstyle.
To replicate this minimalist look, we paired this pale silver slip dress with strappy heels and small gold hoops. Elvira is clearly an example of how even the simplest of looks can be the most glamorous.

Vivian Ward – Pretty Woman (1990)
Vivian Ward is one of the most recognisable romantic comedy characters of all time. Whilst the film is full of incredible outfits, we’ve chosen to take a look at this take on a timeless classic – the suit. The oversized blazer and long shorts combination is one that is as stylish today as it was in the 1990’s.
We’ve paired our suit with a white t-shirt, strappy heels, a clutch and a delicate gold chain for a look that is as timeless as Vivian’s.

Catherine Tramell – Basic Instinct (1992)
An iconic female antagonist of 1990’s cinema, Catherine Tramell’s looks consist of neutral tones and minimalist styles. This femme fatale is most known for her monochromatic outfit from the interrogation scene. The simplicity of the look has made her one of the most stylish villains in film.
Inspired by Catherine’s neutral ensemble, we’ve paired a simple knit dress with a white blazer and neutral accessories.

Mia Wallace – Pulp Fiction (1994)
One of the most iconic Tarantino characters, Mrs Mia Wallace’s look has become a timeless classic in film history. The oversized white shirt with a cropped black trouser gives an effortlessly chic look that is simple yet classic.
We’ve paired our look with chic black slides and a 1990’s inspired handbag for a simple daytime look. To transform the look from day to night, add a statement gold ring and a swipe of dark burgundy lipstick.
