To celebrate Plastic Free July, we wanted to share with you one of our new favourite beauty brands, Nereus London. The brand, who are not only looking to eradicate the use of single-use plastics in the beauty industry, have created an incredible collection of unique scents that transport you to exotic international locations with every use.
Through their invigorating fusion of natural fragrances inspired by the most breathtaking natural oases, Nereus London is giving us the chance to experience the very best of the natural world and be part of the much needed social and environmental change in the luxury beauty industry.
Who is Nereus London?
Nereus London is a luxury sustainable beauty brand that has the customer and the environment at its heart. Frustrated by the lack of natural products that actually performed, founders James Inglesby and Diana Ziegler wanted to create products that were natural and luxurious but didn’t cost the environment.
Bringing a dose of elegance to their customers’ bathrooms, the founders have worked to create a range of luxurious shampoos, conditioners and body care products that carry the Nereus sustainable ethos. Packed with ethically sourced natural ingredients and encased in fully-recyclable, plastic-free black aluminium bottles that are as stylish as they are sustainable, Nereus London is reimagining the beauty industry sustainably with its high performing luxury formulations.
Through their invigorating collection of products, the Nereus team have shown that your beauty products can be luxurious, naturally sourced and plastic-free.
Inspired by the untouched natural beauty of the Zambezi
Nereus was first envisioned to celebrate the natural beauty of international sites that have been untouched by human intervention. The idea of Nereus was born from the untouched natural beauty of the Zambezi river in Africa. James tells us that it was the incredible sights of the sunset over the Zambezi river national park that spurred his interest in bringing this natural beauty to everyone.
From the range of ethically sourced aromatherapy found in every bottle to the sophisticated pop of orange on the luxurious and recyclable Nereus packaging, the untouched natural beauty of the Zambezi can now be brought to your bathroom.
Invigorating aromatherapy that can take you around the world
The invigorating fusion of natural oils and scents each have their own international inspiration – meaning you can travel to far-off locations luxuriously with every pamper session. The Madagascan Ylang Ylang Body Wash, for instance, is packed with organic ylang-ylang and patchouli essential oils delivered through an extra moisturising natural formula, that makes every bath or shower natural and luxurious.
The inspiration behind this classic scent came from James and Diana’s trip to London’s most exclusive and luxury hotels and bars. James and Diana tell us that they wanted to recreate the elegant patchouli fragrances they had sampled in London’s luxury establishments sustainably whilst maintaining the same luxury feel for their customers.
With every use of the moisturising ylang-ylang and patchouli body wash, the product gives you an unmatched luxury aromatherapy experience that takes you to the streets of London’s Mayfair and Soho.
Even the Nereus hair care has a unique blend of fragrances that transport you to the Italian Riviera but with rugged naturalness of the Australian outback with every use. Enriched with Australian buddha wood and organic Italian bergamot essential oils, the Australian Buddha Wood & Bergamot Shampoo and Conditioner when used together leave your hair feeling thoroughly nourished and revived.
The refreshing deep and citrus notes of the shampoo and conditioner, much like the body wash, has its own distinct aromatherapy experience that immediately relaxes and transports you to the other side of the world just through its luxurious scent and formulation.
International scents with plastic-free and local production
Whilst we have fallen in love with the incredible scents in the collection, it’s the brands sustainable and plastic-free purpose that we believe makes Nereus one to watch. We spoke with James and Diana to learn more about the sustainable mission behind the brand and their commitment to being transparent with their customers.
Inspired by the plastic overuse in industry, the Nereus team wanted to create a brand that not only celebrated natural beauty but also reimagined a plastic-free future for the luxury beauty industry.
“At Nereus London, we are creating a plastic-free bathroom, but with the highest quality, luxury designed, natural products”
With this plastic-free commitment, Nereus wanted to create a stylish and sleek range of bottles and packaging that would add a touch of sustainable luxury to your bathroom. And we love it!
The stylish black bottles are made from 100% recyclable BPA free aluminium. And even the elegant labels are plastic-free. Made from wood pulp, the labels are completely biodegradable whilst still having the same luxurious feel. Proving that you don’t need to sacrifice aesthetics to be sustainable, we are loving the black plastic-free packaging and we know you will too!
As well as their plastic-free commitment, James and Diana also emphasised their pride in being a brand designed with the conscious customer in mind. Each product is consciously designed with both the customer and the environment in mind.
A luxurious brand that gives back
And their plastic-free commitment doesn’t stop there. When we spoke with James and Diana, they told us how as well as providing a plastic-free beauty alternative for their customers, they wanted to also give back to the environment.
As well as using single-use plastic alternatives in all of their packaging, Nereus has formed a partnership with Plastic Bank – a social enterprise working to create a circular plastic economy and aiding the countries worst hit by the plastic crisis.
In partnership with Plastic Bank, for every Nereus product purchased, 1kg of ocean-bound plastic will be recovered from the areas that have been worst affected by the plastic crisis. Through this partnership, and with their plastic-free packaging, Nereus is giving its customers the chance to make sustainable choices when it comes to their beauty products.
Experiencing the untouched natural beauty of the world without costing the environment
Through their elegant collection of shampoos, conditioners, body washes and hand sanitiser, Nereus London has reimagined the category of sustainable luxury beauty.
The Nereus commitment to being plastic-free whilst still delivering the same luxury aesthetics makes it a beauty brand unlike any other. The sleek black aluminium bottles and elegant black and orange labels add another level of luxury to your bath or shower without contributing to the plastic crisis – a perfect reason to treat yourself for your next pamper session!
The brand’s commitment to transparency is also another reason as to why the beauty brand is one of our favourites. At a click of a button, through the Nereus website and social media channels, you can access the full list of ingredients of your favourite Madagascan Ylang Ylang Body Wash and learn more about the Nereus supply chain.
Nereus is paving the way for a greener and plastic-free future for the luxury beauty industry and we are very excited to see what they will do next!
