The spring is fast approaching, the sun’s getting warmer and the days will start being longer which makes us all feel like better days are coming. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and the end of lockdown is just around the corner!

However, as we all still spend most of our time at home, you might be craving for something new and inspiring. Picking up a book and immersing yourself into different stories or new knowledge can make you forget where you are, spice up your creativity and additionally make your days livelier! Get inspired with our March Book Club and get lost inside different stories our editors enjoyed this month!

Verity by Colleen Hoover

Bibiana’s pick – Beauty & Lifestyle Editor Contributor

In case you are into romantic thrillers this book is perfect for you! It is a story about a struggling writer Lowen accepting a job from Jeremy Crawford to finish the successful book series written by his wife Verity who is unable to finish it due to her injuries.

Lowen moves into Crawford’s house to conduct her research on the books, however she finds an unfinished Verity’s autobiography, which was never intended to be read by anyone.  The manuscript is horrifying and uncovers Verity’s chilling side of story. Lowen faces a dilemma if she should show Jeremy the chilling manuscript and truth about injured Verity or keep it in the dark as she slowly falls in love with him…

“Colleen Hoover is one of my favourite authors when it comes to fiction and this book truly does not disappoint! Full of twists, turns and secrets, I was not able to put the book down until the ending! If you are a fan of thrillers and unexpected stories, you need to read this book!”

A Life On Our Planet by David Attenborough

Ellen’s Pick – Marketing & Social Media

“I never imagined this book would be such a rollercoaster of emotions. Reading Attenborough’s witness statement I felt shocked, angry, worried, hopeless and finally, optimistic and empowered. I like to think I’m well versed on the subject of the climate crisis and biodiversity loss. And yet this book managed to open my eyes even wider to just how interconnected and precious Earth is. It was awful reading what our future might look like if we do not act to save it. It is truly of the utmost importance that we tackle these issues as fast and as best we can- after all, there is no planet B.

David Attenborough is an inspiration and this book is equally as brilliant. If you’re looking for clear, easy to read answers on what we can do to save our planet and all the species who live on it (including ourselves) then I can’t recommend this book enough. A Life On Our Planet should be read by all. “

Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Daisy’s Pick – Editor Contributor

“I found this book almost impossible to put down from the very first chapter! Split between two timelines, Where the Crawdads Sing is simultaneously a coming-of-age novel and murder mystery.

Set across 1950s and 1960s North Carolina, the first timeline follows the life of the mysterious ‘Marsh Girl’, Kya Clark. After being abandoned by her family as a child, Kya is forced to raise herself in the marshes away from the cruel prejudices of the local townspeople. Despite her mistreatment, Kya grows into an intelligent and resourceful young woman, learning from the natural world around her and from the kindness of a select few townspeople.
However, in the second timeline, Kya’s status as a social outcast has made her the lead suspect in the mysterious murder of local man, Chase Andrews.

Delia Owens’ tale is equal parts thrilling and thought-provoking. As well as exploring the social and racial divisions of the time, the novel deals with the concept of loneliness and isolation in a powerful way that is even more poignant in lockdown. The descriptions of the marshes are also so beautifully written that you feel as if you are with Kya with every word!”

The Book Of Joy by Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu and Douglas Abrams

Kai Lin’s Pick – Lifestyle Editor Contributor

The rare glimpse into the wisdom of Dalai Lama and archbishop Desmond Tutu. The Book Of Joy tells you how you could achieve happiness in the changing world. Wisdom provided by two spiritual giants that can benefit all of us!

“I started reading this book last month and I really don’t want to finish it! This book is like a comfort place for me whenever I feel down or upset, it never fails to lift my spirits. What is so special about this book is that the whole conversation between the two great leaders is very casual and sincere. Unlike some self help books that tell you to do this and that in order to live your life better, this book shows you their journey into finding theories that helped themselves as well as others in finding joy.
There is no pressure in finding what’s right or wrong and that is what I’ve found so special about this book. I feel content just by reading a chapter each day and that is all I needed for me to power through everyday. ”

Brainwaves by Ziggy Alberts

Tess’ Pick – Lifestyle Contributor Editor

If you’re a fan of Australian singer-songwriter Ziggy Alberts, then you’ll love his collection of poetry that he’s released in a unique book, titled ‘brainwaves’.

Divided into four chapters, his poetry explores deeply personal and insightful emotions that he’s experienced through conscious and intentional living. He contemplates topics of purpose, trust, stillness and love, observed in the natural environment.

“The book itself is beautifully made, soft to the touch with serene imagery on the cover and Ziggy’s fingerprint imprinted on the front. The pages are published on 100% recycled, FSC certified chlorine-free paper. I strongly recommend investing in this little gem of thoughts.”
