After summer, it is kind of hard to adjust to more layers of clothing again. Whether we like it or not but it is already September, which means summer is soon to be officially over. Before you get all nostalgic about the great summer you have had, let me remember you that fashion-wise it’s not over yet.
Some of us had to pull out our autumn wear even during the supposedly warmer months, however, now is the time to connect both seasons and achieve a glorious in-between look.
If you have lived in your loose linen trousers over the last months and you can’t get over how comfy they are, we have some tips on how to make the most of your summer and autumn wardrobe. Do you wish to preserve summer by wearing your beloved holiday dress even after vacation time?
All you need to know about layering combinations
The layering look has been around for quite some time and it’s unlikely that it will disappear any time soon. Layering is simple, looks stylish, and doesn’t require a lot of effort. So, a perfectly accessible way to make fashion in-between seasons even easier for you.
Let’s start with the basics: What do you need for the layering look?
If you are familiar with the capsule wardrobe, that’s a plus. But even if you haven’t, it’s not rocket science. All you need is some essentials like basic vests, t-shirts, long-sleeve tops, shirts, different kinds of jumpers, and cardigans. You can combine these basics with more eye-catching pieces from your wardrobe and layer the mentioned items on top of one another in your individual preference. This way, you can adjust the clothes to your needs and the current weather situation.
To make linen trousers work for colder temperatures in autumn, you can style them with a fluffy jumper and a matching cardigan. If it is even colder, think of a jacket that keeps you warm. If that’s too plain, add some colour with a vibrant handbag or switch your Birkenstock for sustainable sneakers.
The most important thing to keep in mind at the beginning of autumn is the unpredictability of the weather. Be prepared for what the season can hold – from cold mornings, breakthroughs of sunshine during the day to rainy evenings.

Coats & Jackets
Nothing better than a nice coat or jacket to keep you warm when the seasons change. If you want to follow the trends for this autumn, keep an eye out for a tailored coat. Throw a coat over when you feel a little chilly and even wear them over jackets for some extra comfort. The art of layering will keep you in style, and most importantly warm. We love the neutral tones of our selection of coats and jackets and hope you will do too.
Trousers
Autumn is the perfect season to combine our summer favourites with some more practical gear for when it is a bit colder outside. Get inspired by styling your beloved linen trousers with a cotton T-shirt and a cosy jumper that you can either put on or tie casually around your shoulders. Simply add as many layers as you need!
Knitwear
Knits are back! Summer has come to an end which means knitwear is back in the game. From turtlenecks, cardigans to warming jumpers – here are some of our favourites.
Dresses
Yes, you can still wear dresses! You just have to make them work for colder days – tights will be your must-have! If you can’t let go of your summer go-to, you can just put on some tights, add boots, and there you have your fusion outfit, combining summer favourites with autumnal clothes.
T-Shirts & Long-Sleeve Tops
In-between seasons you have to work with layers. Without T-shirts and long-sleeve tops layering wouldn’t be the same, so, let’s invest in some good quality basics that will last.
Shirts
Shirts can either dress your outfit down or up, it depends on how you make use of them. If you are looking for a laid-back look, we recommend some jeans, a basic top, and a shirt. Undo the buttons to make it look more informal.
Accessories
When the colder months approach, we have to get used to wrapping ourselves up again. Therefore, scarves and beanies are probably one of the essentials of tackling fashion in-between seasons. Temperatures can drop quickly in autumn, so, being prepared for that gives you an advantage!
All the neutral tones, comfy fabrics, and minimalist designs are on top of our shopping list for the upcoming season. As much as we like neutrals, we get that a pop of colour might brighten up – the hopefully few – grey days of autumn. If you feel like you need a blur of colour, just add some timeless pieces to your capsule wardrobe, like a forest green handbag, light yellow shoes, or a lilac hat.
We hope you love our curated essentials for tackling fashion in-between seasons as much as we do. Let us know your tips and tricks for keeping warm and fashionable at the same time during autumn in the comments below or on our Instagram page – we can’t wait to hear from you.
