8 Influencers Driving Motivation For Change
@ Marina Testino

By Serina Tatham

Over the past few months, the pandemic has forced us to slow down and re-evaluate our day-to-day routines. Social Media, and Instagram in specific has been a big perpetrator of this as we carefully position and capture our sourdough and show off our post-workout glow.

Providing so much inspiration, it can be an amazing way to share your lifestyle and passions. But, to make the most out of it, it’s important we curate our feeds consciously.

So, keep reading for our round-up of our favourite sustainable influencers inspiring us to do our bit each day.

Marina Testino

Proving it’s possible to live an intentional lifestyle without compromise, Marina really is a positive force for change. A creative entrepreneur and founder of Point Off View, she raises awareness on conscious consumerism through bold social media campaigns.

One of her most recent, #WeSeaThrough, highlights the invisible threat that is plastic pollution.

Through her Instagram filter, she aims to raise awareness and encourage us to take action on the issue. If you’re interested in how to make your home greener, or you want a great directory of sustainable fashion brands, browse her Instagram highlights for endless inspiration.

Claudia Ayuso

Claudia is a presenter, content creator and author, co-writing the book We’re the Last Generation that Can Save the Planet. While focusing on environmental and social issues, she gives followers realistic ways to live more consciously.

Her podcast, The Cheeky Revolution, is a great listen for any ethically-minded individual. Covering everything from carbon footprints, plant-based living and eco-fashion, it never fails to inspire.

Interviewing other sustainable influencers and some of the most amazing minds, it’s a seriously great listen.

Aditi Mayer

Aditi is much-needed voice in the South Asian community. An innovative figure among her peers, her social media is full of fashion, conscious living and travel.

After learning about the Rana Plaza Collapse, she began working closely with garment workers in LA to address and work against local labour exploitation.

As well as her Instagram, her blog ADIMAY explores the ties between style, sustainability and social justice.

She fills us with optimism, making us hopeful that the future of sustainable fashion will continue to become more inclusive.

Chloe Helen Miles

Chloe is a sustainable influencer focusing on all things fashion and lifestyle, sharing snippets of her day-to-day life.

After learning about the poor treatment of the fashion industry’s workers and its environmental impact, her passion became sustainability. And she’s even founded The Slow Vintage Shop, an amazing destination for all things vintage and second-hand.

We love her timeless and classic style, with many of her pieces coming from The Slow Vintage Shop. Her Instagram is a great source of inspiration if you’re looking to start if you’re transitioning your wardrobe for autumn.

After changing the way she consumes and moving away from fast fashion, she leaves us energised and ready to do the same.

@chloehelenmiles

Valeria Hinojosa

Aiming is to show how you can live life to the fullest whilst staying in sync with nature, Valeria is on a mission to influence our lives through mindful living.

By encouraging us to take small, effective steps every day, her realistic approach puts balance at the heart. Most importantly, it’s about making time for yourself and the things you love whilst making conscious choices.

We love her honesty as she shares not just the highs of travelling, but also the lows of building a freelance and ethical career. She also promotes exclusively eco-friendly brands: truly inspiring!

@waterthruskin

Lauren Singer

One of the most well-known sustainable influencers, Lauren’s blog has evolved into both a lifestyle and a brand.

Empowering people to make conscious choices, she writes on everything from food waste and reusable cups to the problems with commercial stationary and how to streamline your closet.

Making Forbes’ 30 under 30 as the founder and CEO of a hugely successful brand, she’s even launched her own package free shop to help you live your best sustainable life.

Lauren’s Instagram is hugely motivational. A gold-mine of useful tips, it gives you everything you could ever need to help make your day-to-day more sustainable.

Emma Slade Edmondson:

Emma is a seriously exciting voice. She’s a consultant, creative producer and founder of Charity Fashion Live. An alternative to London Fashion Week, they recreate catwalk looks in real-time using only charity shop finds.

Her ethos that fashion should be fun and accessible to all shines through. Her infectious enthusiasm for the industry is endlessly inspiring as she shares her gorgeous and colourful outfits on her feed.

Tagging her favourite sustainable brands and vintage stores, she shows that ethical fashion doesn’t have to be boring.

Her recent IGTV series ‘Come Second Hand Shopping With Me’ makes an art form out of charity shopping. We want to run to our local British Heart Foundation store immediately!

@emsladedmondson

Venetia La Manna:

A broadcaster and slow fashion campaigner, Venetia proves it’s possible to have a sustainable lifestyle without compromise. By sharing actual skills and easy tips to follow, her posts are empowering and show it’s not that difficult to do a little more for the planet.

As the co-founder of @rememberwhomadethem, she educates consumers to stop and think about the garment workers behind their clothing.

By encouraging us to have a more mindful and considered approach to every aspect of life, her posts leave us feeling more inspired every time.
