The gender gap in sustainable brands for men and women is evident and this can sometimes make it challenging for the conscious man. In our latest conscious guide for men, we’ve selected the best European brands putting people and the planet first. Not only are they ethical, vegan and eco-friendly, but the brands also offer unisex collections to love and wear forever.
1. Brothers We Stand
Brothers We Stand is a UK-based ethical marketplace dedicated to men’s fashion and accessories, carrying brands like Ecoalf, Mudjeans or Elvis & Kresse.
The brands chosen are required to meet three strict standards: ethical production, responsible manufacturing, and high quality that will stand the test of time.
2. Sae-Rima
Sae-Rima was created in Suffolk by two friends passionate about design. Their first collection is unisex in an attempt to reduce waste in the apparel industry.
Their garments are all made of organic cotton and include tote bags and staple basics like t-shirts and jumpers.
3. Kuyichi
Kuyichi’s journey is probably one of our favourite stories. Exploring the cotton industry in Peru, the founders were shocked by the pollution and poverty they witnessed.
They were inspired and began collaborating with local cotton farmers to create ethical and GOT certificate cotton pieces. At the time, no brands were interested in buying organic cotton, so they created their own collection and Kuyichi was born.
4. Thought
Their constant commitment to offering the modern shopper the opportunity to make considered purchases allows you peace of mind every time.
With their fabric and manufacturing process being carefully chosen, their GOTS and Fairtrade cotton garments are made to last.
5. Thinking Mu
Thinking Mu is a Spanish brand evolving towards a more ecological and sustainable approach.
Their first campaign, Trash, is their zero-waste initiative and creates new clothes out of old garments. The second focuses on the materials and exclusively uses hemp fibres.
In a unique move, Thinking Mu never have sales in an effort to create a new way of consuming and to make sure every purchase is conscious and won’t result in more waste.
6. Two Thirds
This Spanish brand is inspired by the ocean, and this influence comes through in their collection.
With every garment designed in Barcelona and locally produced in Portugal, it ensures ethical working conditions.
7. Isto
As an independent brand focused on transparency, Isto’s idea of fashion makes everyday clothes that fit everyday needs.
The end result is a growing collection of organic and natural materials for both men and women that look amazing, fit perfectly, and last.
8. Asket
Asket is a sustainable Swedish brand ideal for your capsule wardrobe. With only one permanent collection, they continuously update it with three or four additions per year.
Providing garment care guides to ensure the clothes last, each product is also traceable, allowing you to make conscious choices about the industry practises your wardrobe is supporting.
9. Nudie Jeans
Only using organic cotton, this Swedish brand guarantees no extra treatments or washes. And, as part of a slow fashion approach, they offer a free lifetime repairs service.
In 2018 they replaced the leather patch with a paper one, meaning their denim is now suitable for vegans.
10. Knowledge Cotton Apparel
Knowledge Cotton Apparel is a committed and conscientious brand stocking sustainable clothing. The Danish label offers timeless clothing whilst challenging the status quo of the fashion industry.
By choosing partners certified by third parties (SA8000, GOTS, GRS, BSCI or Fairtrade) they ensure fair working conditions and wages in their factories and cotton fields.
